Heated Platfrom

Yesterday, we tried to use the heated platform.  If you look in the picture, you can tell that we have one LED that is not working (a project for a rainy day!).

The updating of firmware was a trick (it pays to read, I guess!)... as we were trying to update the firmware for the extruder control board, and finally read that we had to plug the USB cable directly to the board... it worked a lot faster that way ;).

We found that we have the MOSFET issue with our platform, so we just plugged it in direct to the power supply.  This was not an issue, and warmed up quite well.  However, we did find one issue.  As the heat continued to generate inside the box, we actually melted the hot glue that was holding the plastic bearings to the 'Y-stage'.  The glue then stopped the 'Y-stage' from travelling.  Fortunetly, it stopped in a location where we could still 'scrape' the glue off of the rails, and everything seems to still be in working order.  The part that we were working on did not turn out, and we have only had to parts turn out so far (well, the first one that we printed can be seen in the 'Our First Part'... and if you read that, you know how that turned out).

We did mount the relay switch today, to the outside of the bot, just above the motherboard.  Seems to be a pretty good location for it.
